Geno is (at this point in his life) a tired old man - who's decided that he bears little to no responsibility for the season. It's unbecoming... and (at 71) it takes one to know one.
The kids - yes ... kids - have played their hearts out - worn their legs out - and done (as my wife continues to tell me) "the best they can". The D-1 game is far more competitive than it ever was. And any comparisons to the UConn teams of the past is nonsense - as UConn was so superior to the competition back then, the games were not........games. They were UConn practice sessions.
These kids deserve far more respect than this - and unless it's just a typical Geno head-game, he should consider retiring.
This team was scary good at the start of the season since the SC game they are scary bad. The women’s college game has changed for the better there are so many good teams and good games. This UCONN team is an example of how bad the women’s game use to be. It’s a shame. Looks like there are only two games left. Early outs in both tournaments.
