Opposition question for itself: How do I double cover when everyone on Uconn can score just about from anywhere?

Did I detect a slight limp when Paige was on the floor. Is she going to contribute at her 2021 level going forward. She looked down/dejected on the bench. Not her usual energetic self.

I echo that observation, John, and wonder where her energy level is, but also how her success and self-image from last year may have been changed by her current role. She wants to be a team player, but taking a few more shots might help her confidence and lend more comfort to her fit with the overall flow of play. Too much time with business projects? I assume her studies are going well, but who knows? Wish I understood where the juvenile Tik-Tok stuff fits into a 20 year-olds self-imaging. Hoping for the best for her and the team down the home stretch.

Does anyone know any other coach that could suffer the key player injuries Uconn women did and come up with so wins? nada....there isn't one. Kudos to Geno and the players

1. So - after a sturm & drang of a season - at this point (watching last night's floor mopping of a good 'Nova team) it seems that Stanford & S.C. are the only 60/40 wins over UConn. Not saying other teams couldn't beat UConn - ("Any Given Sunday") - but that only S.C. & Stanford are favored to win - and not by a lot. TRUE / FALSE?

2. Evina should be a first round WNBA'r. Liv (probably) as well. Dorka (does she have WNBA aspirations??). Christyn - I don't know. I really don't know. What are the legit WNBA opps for our seniors?

3. OBVIOUSLY (!) with LSU, Louisville and Michigan losing UConn will move up. Will they play in the Bridgeport Region (Your best guess)

4. Imagine this year's team with a healthy Aubrey. I don't even see (even) S.C. and Stanford beating them. TRUE/FALSE?

5. Your best guess on what Paige will be able to contribute to the NCAA Tournament.

I see that some teams allow the players to tuck their shorts in so they are different from other players. I don’t like this practice and I don’t see it on UConn players. They look together and are proud of it. Does UConn have a dress code?

Looked like Azzi and Paige passed up a number of 3 point attempts last night. Azzi, Paige, Dorka 0-1, CW 1=2, EW 1-5 oh and Caroline 1-1. Regardless, a good sign, won big. Georgetown 40%, Marquette 39%, Villinovia 25%.

Can UConn make the final four WITHOUT Paige contributing?

Expand full comment

i think they can they look really good. They are winning without 3's but hopefully Azzi starts hitting them Oh and Caroline also if Geno gives her minutes.I remember him saying some thing like ... hate to think where we would be without Cariline

Lately when Paige brings the ball down she always passes it off and goes in a corner and stands there. She doesn't drive toward the rim and in truth, is virtually no help, Thanks for Azzi who is now a very good player and will soon be a super star [ as Paige was]. I think she's not sure of her knee holding up. It's understandable her feeling that way and she knows she isn't able to play at her old pace Y E T !!! If and when she finds her old self she will be a main cog on a very good team.

My question is completely on a different matter. I have always wanted to know when did Geno decide to use male players in his practices. And did he always have this idea to incorporate a men's practice squad for the women. Was there a particular event or events that gave him this idea. It is a great idea and I don't know why more coaches don't do it.

I think he’s been doing it for a few years.

I know that he has been doing it for many years but I would like to know what made him decide to incorporate that into his practices. Maybe you could post this question on your site or get someone to approach him and ask him this question

Yes - yes he has
